Lecture by Sébastien Marot: Taking The Country’s Side
08.05.2019 – 19:00

What role can we assign to agriculture in a society that is undergoing profound change? How can we rethink the relationship between human settlements and productive land in the 21st century? And how should we consider changes in the environment within an existing cultural aggregate? These are the questions that French philosopher and historian Sébastien Marot will try to answer during his lecture at BOZAR.

Marot is a philosopher and has a doctorate in history. He founded the magazine Le Visiteur, and is a founding member of the École d’architecture de la ville & des territoires de Marne-la-Vallée, at which he is currently a lecturer in history and theory. Since 2010, he has been the editorial director of the journal Marnes: documents d’architecture, which mainly consists of reissues and translations of previously unpublished texts that are difficult to access.

Sébastien Marot‘s lecture will focus on his current research, related to the exhibition Taking the Country’s Side: Agriculture and Architecture, which he is preparing for the next edition of the 2019 Lisbon Architecture Triennial.
