The Brussels Street Photography Festival (BSPF) joins PhotoBrussels Festival (PBF) during their fourth edition for a photography contest featuring pictures around a specific theme.

PHOTOBRUSSELS FESTIVAL

PhotoBrussels Festival, organized by Hangar, is a major annual meeting devoted to photography, based on a meaningful theme.

A selection of international photographers and emerging young artists shows viewers what contemporary photography has to say about our time, its struggles, trends, and aspirations. Between 100 and 200 photographs, by 15-20 different artists, are exhibited in the Hangar art center, located in Châtelain, a cosmopolitan cultural district in the heart of Brussels.

PBF also serves as an exchange platform to spark and confront ideas. The exhibit is designed on the scale of a museum, and it provides an opportunity to organize lectures, workshops and guided tours where some major players (photographers, writers, art schools) are invited to attend.

STREET STILL LIFE

The theme of this contest, Street Still Life, is directly related to the theme of the fourth edition of the PhotoBrussels Festival, which is “Still Life”.

With this contest, the Brussels Street Photography Festival  would like to see how you approach and interpret the streets inspired by a provocative term. It is possible to find stillness in the streets? It is possible to find “Still Life” in the public space?

Whether traditional or revisited, whether minimalist, experimental, raw or humorous, the fact remains that this theme inspires, more than ever, the photographic creation!

OVERVIEW

Pictures submitted should represent the theme of the contest in order to be considered. The interpretation of the theme is subject to each participant, and it is encouraged creativity to better depict the theme.

The best three (3) pictures submitted will be printed in big format and exhibited during the fourth edition of the PhotoBrussels Festival at the Hangar Art Center in Brussels. The exhibition opening will be on Saturday, November 30, 2019, and will run until Saturday, December 21, 2019, alongside the PBF.
