The 12th edition of the Museum Night Fever is the largest one ever organized with 30 participating museums taking part.

Similarly to the past few years, museum night tours can be combined with the official after-party which lasts until 8am Sunday at C12 in center of Brussels.

What’s new this year is the addition of new participating museums such as the Brussels Design Museum ADAM, the Magritte Museum, the Planetarium, the CIVA, the MOMuse- Municipal Museum of Molenbeek Saint-Jean and also the Halles St-Gery.

The Museum Night Fever is all about major exhibitions, performances, installations, live music, DJs, film, eccentric animations, extraordinary guided tours and an electr0-beat filled after-party to create the most beautiful of sleepless nights.

The initiative seduced 17,000 visitors in 2018, which was a record attendance.

The incomparable Museum Night Fever returns to the capital next month. MNF is much more than a simple night at the museum. It invites 1,000 talented young people to take charge of 30 Brussels museums and use innovative creative materials to showcase the collections. The programme includes music, dance, visual arts and films, as well as quirky events and imaginative guided visits that will challenge the traditional image of museums.

This year there are seven new participants. The Magritte Museum, KANAL – Centre Pompidou, the Planetarium of Brussels, the ADAM-Brussels Design Museum, the Halles St-Géry, CIVA and the Municipal Museum of Molenbeek Saint-Jean will make this MNF the biggest ever.

It should convince people of the contemporary nature of Brussels museums and attract the more reticent members of the public.

27 museums all in one night! Hopping from museum to museum created an eclectic feel of history, art, design and performance in a seamless fashion that opened you to the humanities as never before.

But this nighttime soirée didn’t just mean the museums were open past their usual hours; acrobatics, catwalks, concerts, performances and installations were present amongst the regular exhibits in each museum, meaning that you discovered not just the museum at night, but the nuances that this event brought with it.

One such event was BOZAR having their main hall kitted out for high flying acrobatics where performers passed through the air with astounding agility and finesse, even amassing a line of audience to lay on the ground as they defied gravity in their lengthy leaps; there was even ariel silk show.

A fashion show was also present in the hall, with everything from sophisticated new styles to eccentric concepts paraded by a legion of models cascading down the marble stairs and into the heart of the hall.

The museums also offered their ongoing exhibits should you wish to see them in a different light: with the Fernand Léger exhibit being available as well as the recently opened Hugo Claus.

The Place Royal made a perfect place to jump from exhibition to exhibition, or to have a drink in a historic hall, but if you wanted to beat the crowds and go to somewhere equally as exhilarating, then you could take a free shuttle service that would ferry you to the different spots.

Here, you would be whisked off to the various other museums where there were eateries, piano serenaded bars, music venues and installations offered throughout the night.

So, although the festival is over, many of museum’s exhibition featured will continue in the following weeks in case you missed out, but with such a grand celebration last night, I’m sure the question on everyone’s mind is: how long till the next one?!

On Saturday March 3^rd, 2018, it will be possible. You can visit the Wiels Museum, the Jewish Museum, and the Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art, MIMA, as well as many others. In its eleventh edition, the Museum Night Fever will take place in Brussels and a total of 27 museums and art spaces will open their doors to children and adults alike from 7 pm until 2 am.

But the organizers have not settled for simply welcoming guests late in the evening to amble around the exhibition rooms. Each location has come up with a rich set of activities that include workshops, installations, dance and slam poetry performances, circus shows, jazz music, and much more.

For the insomniacs and party monsters, an after party will roll on from midnight until 7 am at Zodiak. Future Sound, who organized the Brussels Electronic Marathon, will be at the helm of organizing the after-hours bash. They have prepared an eclectic mix of local and electronic music. Lovers of Electro and House won’t be let down. Glitch-hop and bass music will be in store as well.

As in previous MNF editions, free-of-charge STIB shuttle buses will transport museum visitors from one location to another. The MNF ticket gives access to Noctis buses as well (midnight to 3am). A standard ticket (27 museums) costs 11 Eur, and a combi-ticket (after party included) costs 19 Eur. The ticket also grants an additional free entry to one of the participating museums until March 31^st.
