A symbol of rebirth and renewal, Nowruz has been added to the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It celebrates the arrival of spring, and is cause for much celebration every year.

The program included:

Traditional music from Kyrgyzstan (Solist Roza Amanova, People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic)

Music & dance of Namangan region from Uzbekistan

Traditional dance from Azerbaijan (Nart Dance)

Folk music from Iran (Lian Music Band led by Mohsen Sharifian)

Traditional music & dance from Kazakhstan

A. Zhubanov Kazakh National Instrumental Orchestra performing Daletkerey’s Korogly

Traditional music from Afghanistan

Trio from the Tajikistan National Conservatory

Arts and crafts, as well as traditional food from the whole region were available throughout the day
