Since 1964, the Day of the Hungarian Poetry is celebrated across the country on 11 April, the birthday of the poet Attila József.
This year the Balassi Institute Brussels will take Hungarian poetry to the street by printing poems in original, French and Dutch on our colourful #PostitPoetry wall. Stop by the institute anytime duing the day and take some great Hungarian poetry home on a post-it note! Share your favourite note on social media using the tag #postitpoetry #HUpostitpoetry #balassiinstitutebrussels.
And there’s more…
Did you ever wonder how Hungarian poetry sounds in Finnish, Estonian, Spanish or Basque? What about Czech, French, Polish or German? Here is your chance to discover it. Our colleagues from EUNIC Brussels, directors of other European cultural institutes have accepted our invitation to read Hungarian poetry in their mother tongue.
Check the Facebook page of the Balassi Institute for the videos on 11 April, the Day of Hungarian Poetry.
