New STIB trams in circulation in Brussels
STIB has announced that it has placed an order of 30 new trams for Bombardier. This comes just a year after they had ordered 60 “New Generation” trams in 2018.
The additional trams will serve the extensions of the tram network decided by the government of the Brussels-Capital Region and to strengthen the existing network. Moreover they will allow for the replacement of the older trams.
The introduction of these new trams will increase the total capacity of the STIB tram network by 15%.
The first new trams will circulate in Brussels starting mid-2020. The later ordered ones will be delivered as of 2023.

The public has already had the chance to see how these new trams will look as a replica was presented at Place Royal during the festivities of 150 years of the tram network earlier this month.
