Bruegel’s spirit is still alive today. Discover it in the streets and alleys of Brussels through the districts of Marolles, Molenbeek and the historic center of Brussels.
Respect for Nature, the effects of globalization, the realization of utopias, the highlighting of the “neglected” society, the status of women, the denunciation of injustices and inequalities, the search for Absolute, a different look on the madness, the celebration of childhood, the wonderful sense of humor with its critical spirit are they still relevant?
Through three courses of your choice (Downtown, Marolles, Molenbeek), the multicultural guides of AlterBrussels make you discover with the eyes of the painter the world of yesterday and today. By connecting these major themes with their own stories, which are added to the history of Brussels, become – as Brueghel had suggested in his magnificent “Tower of Babel” painted in the Marolles in 1563 – the metropolis the most authentically cosmopolitan of the world.
Every Sunday starting 9 June until 18 August.
