Massimadi Brussels celebrates 6 years this year. In 2012, when we fiddled the first edition, we had no idea how long this adventure would last. And here we are in 2018, persuaded that the adventure is far from over and also full of questions.

This three-day festival of LGBT films from Africa and the African diaspora, first held in 2014, also features, exhibitions, encounters, performances, and concerts. Including both fiction and non-fiction that explores gender and class issues, you will find, as usual, a beautiful program of films and documentaries describing the realities – sometimes beautiful, sometimes harsh – in South Africa, Brazil, Canada, the United States, France, Ghana, Haiti, Nigeria, and even Belgium.

Privileges, privileges … For a few years now, we have been putting a word on what is probably the essence of the problem: these privilege systems which, on different registers (skin color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identities, income level, etc.), make it so that some remain better off than others. In Massimadi, we decided to discuss these challenges with a conferences such as “Become white-he and realize that being black-e is … a blemish?” … to provoke discussion and for you to get a chance to question us!

And of course, as every year, workshops, parties, music, dance, smiles, laughter and love like, where and with whom we want to do it!

Here is a taste of one of the films on offer…
