AB, Canvas & Caviar present LeFtO’s docu-series ‘In Transit’ in première!
‘LEFTO – In Transit’ is an inspiring six-part documentary in which DJ legend and globetrotter LeFtO takes us along to the underground scenes of London, Los Angeles, Seoul, Brussels and Chicago. Borne by the beats, the musical millipede invites us to meet ardent musicians, producers and artists who proudly are committed to their passion. In each episode we discover countless hidden locations that, according to LeFtO, make the cities so unique. The series is a collaboration with production house Caviar, from the hand of longtime friend and director Kurt de Leijer, and can be seen as of 26 March on Canvas.
But the official launch will take place a week beforehand in de AB Club, where LeFtO & Kurt de Leijer invite a number of artists from the series, reveal two episodes (London & Brussels) in première and explain why impressive music documentaries like ‘In Transit’ are a matter of life and death. And with a DJ set by LeFtO himself to round it all off, of course!
HENRY WU
Kamaal Williams, aka Henry Wu, is – aside from being half of hip jazz duo Yussef Kamaal (to be seen at BRDCST – 09/04) – an impressive producer/DJ too. Travelling the world with his phenomenal collection of funk, jazz and house vinyl. Aside greats like Gilles Peterson and LeFtO, he’s one of the worlds most varied DJs!
LE MOTEL
Brussellian Fabien Leclercq, or producer Le Motel, is a good mate of the likes of Roméo Elvis and Yellowstraps. With the former he made ‘Morale’, winner of the Red Bull Elektropedia Award for Best Album ’16. And he bagged third place as ‘Best Producer’ for himself. Solo, he is enthused by tasty chillwave, jazz and ethnic sounds and he struts a splendid live-reputation!
BARNEY ARTIST
Raw diamond Barney Artist emerges from out of gritty East-London and deals in wonderful jazzy hip-hop that he himself describes as “Prince in a bubble bath on a beach”. Check out singles like ‘I’m Going To Tell You’ & ‘Stay Close’ and you know exactly what’s going to happen next: this guy is going to go skyhigh anytime soon! Also a good friend of upcoming stars Tom Misch & Loyle Carner.
ZWANGERE GUY
The hilarious Omar-G (Stikstof) delivered two cult-hits in 2016 as Zwangere Guy: ‘Dokter Guy’ and ‘Jij Niet Zien’. His raps are as absurd as the name of his alter-ego has you suspecting and Guy is currently happily expecting his very first mixtape ‘Zwangerschapsverlof’. A promising Brussellian with tons of swag!
