Dark, synth-driven, ambient-drones

Tiny Vipers is the alter ego of Seattle resident and artist Jesy Fortino. After a number of releases in the early 2000’s (on Sub Pop, amongst others), she took a break of 8 years in which she gained a degree in engineering and formed the band Mirroring together with Liz Harris (Grouper). But then suddenly the album Laughter appeared earlier this year. It is an album full of dark, synth-driven ambient compositions in which Fortino takes leave of her ‘singer-songwriter’ persona.

For fans of: Grouper, Popol Vuh, Dieter Moebius, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Rafael Anton Irisarri

In the press: ‘On Laughter, Fortino strips back her music even further, and it feels like a breakthrough’ Pitchfork
