Vox Populi: Manu Sanchez from Madrid, Spain
1. What are your expectations/hopes from these elections?
These are the most challenging elections since I have the right to vote: Brexit, Italy, Hungary…We have the chance to show the world that another EU is possible, with a common project more liberal, with more freedom where we unify more than we divide. I wish that the new generations will share this vision and vote for more EU. It doesn’t matter if they have their own political preferences but that they share the message of a united Europe. I hope all Europeans go en masse to the polling stations and vote for pro EU parties, according with their political views but willing to keep building a united Europe.
2. Do you/people in your member state still have faith in the EU to deliver?
I still have faith in the EU as personally I see is the only option that we have to keep being relevant in a world which is rapidly changing and evolving. However I frequently see people getting bored of the EU with nationalist or regionalist thoughts (which are growing in Spain) – not looking to Europe but contemplating their owns navels!
3. Will you be voting? If so, who for (if you are willing to say)?
Or course I’m willing to vote, it’s in our hands to choose pro EU parties. In my case I think ALDE shares this vision so they will be probably my choice.
4. Tell us some very brief persona/biographical details about yourself?
I’m 31 years old, live in Madrid and work in communications (I lived in the UK previously).
