Ugly truth of Instagram filters
Travel bloggers Lauren Bullen and Jack Morris are the latest Instagram stars to expose the reality behind their “perfect” lives.
Lauren, a 24-year-old Australian, is @gypsea_lust on Instagram and has over 1.9 million followers. Jack, an Englishman of 26, is @doyoutravel and has 2.7 million fans in his account. They are one the most envied couple on Instagram. Why? They visited more than 45 countries thanks to Instagram.
Their travel photos worth thousands of euros – Jack, already got paid $ 9000 for a single publication on Instagram, and Lauren usually gets paid $ 7,500 per post.
In August, the two decided to show the ugly truth behind the perfect photos they published though a new Instagram account entitled @doyoutravelpresets – where they show the before and after the editing of the images.
Jack told the Daily Mail that they do not use filters or smartphone applications: “‘I don’t use any mobile apps or filters, I edit using Lightroom on my Macbook Pro. If a photo looks a little dark or contrasty [sic] I sometimes tweak the edit just on the pre post Instagram editor.’ he said.
The program used by both is Adobe Lightroom. Thanks to this program they can get the right amount of exposure for the image in order to become vibrant. “The colors I like to use for the photos are usually orange and green, or something in between – which is especially good for sunrise and sunset images,” says Lauren.
