L’Histoire du Soldat musical evening at Balassi Institute on the 1st of April 2019, with Tomoko Honda (piano), Daniel Mourek (clarinet) and Bence Ábrahám (violin).

 

 

Bence Ábrahám 

He was born in 1979 in Kiskunhalas, Hungary. He started playing the violin when he was 7 years old. He graduated as a violinist and teacher in 2002 from the Conservatory of Szeged. Taught first by Ferenc Szecsődi, he later continued his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, under the direction of Katalin Sebestyén and Marc Kowalski. He participated in masterclasses in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

He performed both as a soloist and in a chamber orchestra in Hungary, Serbia, Switzerland, Germany, England, the Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium. He was a member of the Brussels Kryptos Quartet, and since October 2007 he plays in the Flemish Symphony Orchestra as first violin, alongside his participation in the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia.

Daniel Mourek 

He was born in the Czech Republic in 1968. He started playing the clarinet when he was 10 years old. After graduating from the Prague Conservatory, he honed his skills in Olivier Derbesse’s class at the Conservatory of the 19th District in Paris. In 2010, he was accepted to the Geneva University of Music, where he obtained his Master’s diploma as Romain Guyot’s student. Soon after, he received his qualification as a soloist at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, graduating with an excellent record.

Daniel has won several international music contests, such as the Concertino di Praga, the Jacques Lancelot international clarinet contest in Rouen, or the Debussy international contest in Paris, where he took 3rd place in 2014. He performed with many distinguished orchestras, such as the North Czech Philharmonic of Teplice, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Suisse Romande Orchestra, the Toulon Opera Symphony Orchestra, the symphony orchestra of the French Radio, or the Basel Symphony Orchestra. He’s currently a member of the Flemish Symphony Orchestra as first solo clarinet.

Tomoko Honda

She studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth and the Cologne University of Music. In 2001, she won first place at the Minerbio International Contest in Bologna, as well as at the Weiner Leó National Chamber Music Competition in Budapest. As a specialist in contemporary music, she performed at several prestigious festivals. She worked together and recorded albums with virtuosi such as György Kurtág, György Ligeti, Péter Eötvös, P. Dusapin, T. Hosokawa or G. Crumb. As a chamber musician, she performed with a wide variety of performers in illustrious concert halls such as the Lille Opera, the Van Gogh Museum, BOZAR and Flagey in Brussels or Wigmore Hall in London. She further toured in many European and Asian countries. Since 2012, she has worked as director of chorus at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and she has been the accompanist of many prestigious international competitions.
