The leading singer of her genre and generation, Alexandra Gravas, presents her new CD SONGBOOK 2 #discoveries with an exclusive concert at the Palais des BeauxArts, Brussels, on the 14th of May. She will sing in the heart of Europe in 6 languages (Greek, Spanish, German, French, Chinese and Arabic), featuring songs from her numerous concert tours from China to South America and the Middle East.

Music critics refer to Alexandra Gravas as the ambassador of Greek music who knows how to embrace the old, blend it with the new and create powerful stories by preserving the beauty of the original songs. Her passion for the Greek heritage of music and poetry is very dear to her heart. She belongs to the new generation of Greek singers that combines successfully the Western traditional classical singing with her Greek musical roots.

Alexandra, who received the Greek UNESCO Prize for her contribution to the Arts includes in her repertoire some of the most beautiful Greek songs, ranging from “Les amants de Teruel” by Mikis Theodorakis (written for Edith Piaf in 1962) to the famous Asia Minor song “Misirlou” as well as rarities like the song by Vangelis “Athènes ma ville”written for the Greek icon Melina Mercouri in 1973. Alexandra’s warm contralto voice and her ability to engage with the audience create memorable experiences worldwide.

“SONGBOOK 2 #discoveries is a testimony of how far I can reach out to express myself and, hopefully touch the senses and enrich the souls of my listeners with the precious gems I found on my musical journeys”, says Alexandra Gravas.

The exclusive concert of Alexandra at the Palais des Beaux Arts on 14 May 2019, starting at  20:00 h features: Petros Bouras–piano, Dimitris Kouzis–violin, Jannos Giovanos – cello and the special participation of the Hellenic Choir of Brussels with conductor Christos Gkakoudis.
