This year, Pink Screens is 18! The age of maturity? Maybe. The age of rebellion, surely! And it is clear from the programming of this 2019 edition in which resistance is the protagonist, with a focus on the LGBTQI, feminist and minority struggles facing the rise of extremism and the breakthrough of nationalist parties, fascist or authoritarian, here and elsewhere.

In this context, Italy will be at the center of the attention with 4 feature films which, each in their own way, express their opposition to the macho, intolerant and xenophobic politics led by the fortunately outgoing government coalition.

The festival will also go through the box … “prison”, a place of confinement and social control, but also fantasies about these unisex universes that have inspired many filmmakers, from Genet to sexploitation films.

The festival will also introduce us to rebellious teenagers (“The Miseducation of Cameron Post”), sensitive boys (“Matthias and Maxime” by Xavier Dolan), aging and tender-hearted lovers (“Two of Us” with the wonderful Barbara Sukowa, Lola of Fassbinder), technophiles rather than queer (“Transgeek”), “Yours in Sisterhood”, men going after their desires and fantasies (“Irving Park”, “A rubio “) and even … football players (” Hoy partido a las tres “). Side short films, full of nuggets including the now-classic session “Made in Belgium” and a series of animated films.

Pink Screens will also present a Brazilian show (“The Circo of Drag”), a poetic performance by Said Jaafari (inspired by Justin Torres’ novel “Animal Life”), a depot exhibition, parties that disconcert and many many guests!

And as after 10 days, it will be good to say goodbye, come move your bodies on the beaten rhythms of the inevitable Pink Night and do not forget, you’re still wonderfully beautiful and beautiful!

Join the festival from the 7th to the 16th of November. Buy your tickets and find the complete program here.
