Belgium welcomes the extension of cross-border delivery of humanitarian aid in Syria
The United Nations Security Council approved yesterday a one-year extension of resolution 2165. This resolution allows the cross-border delivery of humanitarian aid to the Syrian population, without requiring the consent of the Syrian regime.
Millions of citizens still depend on humanitarian aid in Syria, including cross-border humanitarian aid. Belgium therefore particularly welcomes the extension of this resolution.
During its mandate at the United Nations Security Council, our country will continue to support humanitarian access in Syria and the full respect of international humanitarian law.
