Fire in Schaerbeek: evacuees still not allowed to return to their homes

Following the fire that hit a hangar on the rue d’Aerschot, this Monday evening, 27 people were evacuated because of the smoke. The evacuees are still not allowed to return to their homes.

17 of them were housed in a center set up by the Commune of Schaerbeek and were able to return home this Tuesday noon, but the inhabitants of n° 123 rue du Brabant are still waiting. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office opened an inquiry following the fire, but also two others which took place at about the same time in Anderlecht and Ixelles. No injuries were reported as a result of these fires. The causes of the Anderlecht and Schaerbeek fires are not known at the moment.
