Number of accidents involving a STIB vehicle decreased in 2018

According to the STIB, throughout 2018 there were nearly 12 accidents per day involving one of their vehicles in the territory of Brussels. There was a decrease compared to the numbers of 2017 and 2016.

In total 4,370 accidents involving STIB vehicles were reported in 2018. So out of a total of 417 million trips, there was 1 accident per 100,000 trips.

The largest number of accidents, 2,773 involved a bus, 1,589 of the accidents involved a tram, and 8 involved a metro.

STIB staff received 467 fines for breaking traffic rules throughout the year.

 


In 2014 and 2015, STIB paid nearly a million and a half euros for the accidents.
