Private e-scooter users do not require a special insurance
A new law regarding electric has entered into place.
Users of electric scooters are no longer required to possess an auto insurance (RC Auto). Up until now it was mandatory for such users to be covered by an Auto CR which would cover the damages in case of an accident.
From now, a family insurance covers the risks associated with the usage of electric scooters, and also any other similar devices which do not exceed the speed of 25 km/hour.
The insurance is supposed to cover the possible damage caused by the driver to a third party, and not the user him/herself.
Even though this type of family insurance is not mandatory, approximately 90% of the population are covered. This insurance covers all members of the same household.
Keep in mind that the law does not hold for shared electric scooters.
