STIB “checkout” validation system to be installed by 2020

STIB/MIVB has launched the gradual installation of the “checkout” system on its entire metro network. As from now, each traveller will also have to validate to leave a metro station, just as is already the case for the premetro stations.

The installation will continue until the end of 2020 announced Cindy Arents, the spokeswoman for STIB in La Capitale.

What are the features of the checkout?

The validation for leaving the station is a significant measure in combating fraud and it will rise the validation level. This allows them also to secure the stations and to make sure all the travellers who are located in the so-called “controlled zone” are there to travel with the public transportation.
