3.5 million tourists went to the Belgian coast in July

Although you might have recently been suffered because of the high temperatures, the tourism industry on the Belgian coast has definitely welcomed such a climate. They have taken advantage of the recent weather, which will continue to make the season profitable for them over the upcoming weeks.

To have an overall idea about the tourist situation it is worth having a look at the statistics. The Tourism Provincial office of Westtoer pointed the last figures on Sunday: 3.5 million tourists have been to the Belgian coast last month.

While it could sound quite nothing to you, please note that this is an increase of 20% compared to the figures last year.

These statistics are then a record for the Belgian tourism sector, as the coast had only welcomed as many tourists in 1999 and 2006. Having a look at the daily statistics, one can see that 300,000 tourists have been to the coast both on 21 and 22 July.

This is of course very good news for the companies and entrepreneurs doing business in the tourism sector. The hotels have been up to 90-95% of their full capacity. But other hosting infrastructures, such as camping or motels have also benefited from the high summer temperatures.

No need to rush to France, Spain or Italy, wouldn’t you say?
