40.000 heartbeats in the Brussels 20km
Over 40.000 participants representing 123 nationalities will be present to kickstart the 39th edition of the Brussels 20km on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Each runner has his or her own reason to run and motivation to successfully finish this human and physical challenge. United through sport, they will transform Brussels for a day. Many VIP’s will be present at the start. This year, the Smurfs will be present at the race and invite the participant to dress up like a Brussels Smurf in order to win many prizes. This is a festive adventure you don’t want to miss!
The Brussels 20km have done it once again: uniting Brussels through a run challenge. Love and running pushed thousands of people to register for the most popular race in the heart of Europe. The race also attracts many tourists to Brussels each year.
The start will be given in six successive waves. The handisports will depart at 9.35am, followed by the elite runners and first wave at 10am. The other waves will follow every five minutes to ensure a smooth race. The organizers extend an invitation to all inhabitants of the Brussels Region to encourage the participants alongside the racetrack.
From Saturday, May 26th, a “20km” village will open its door for the participants at the Cinquantenaire with some animations, running advice and most importantly the distribution of the racebibs.
Good to know:
Online registrations are closed but on May 25 and 26 you still can register by going to the Parc du Cinquantenaire. 20km team stands available from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The Belgian Red Cross will be present alongside the race with 14 first aid tents, many nurses and doctors and a field hospital at the Cinquantenaire.
