Museum Pass: 100 museums for 50 euros
Come September you will be able to buy an unlimited access pass to 100 museums across the whole of Belgium. The MuseumPASSmusées cost 50 euros for one year and is a joint effort between the Flanders and the Francophone Language Community.
The idea behind the scheme is to make museums more accessible and to stimulate people to visit them. In the Netherlands, the Museum Card has existed for more than 30 years generates more than a million users.
Seeing as how the Dutch Museum Pass costs 50 euros, the Belgian counterpart decided to follow suit.
Currently, there are about 10 museums in towns and cities across Belgium included in the offer, such as the museums of fine Arts in Antwerp and Ghent and the museum in the Jubel Park in Brussels.
6,000 special limited edition passes are being made currently and not only will they feature artwork by 6 Belgian artists, including Rinus Van de Velde, Eva Mouton and Jacques Charlier, but they’ll also allow users to take advantage of this offer starting from July. The other passes will go on sale from September.
