Didier Reynders officially a candidate for the position of Secretary General of the Council of Europe
Didier Reynders, the current Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, as well as Defense Minister, has announced his candidacy for the position of Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
“The procedure is underway,” Minister Reynders said, while warning that this candidacy would be examined by the 47 members of the Council of Europe, with headquarters in Strasbourg. The decision would be taken in June.
The second term of the current Secretary General, former Norwegian Prime Minister, Thorbjørn Jagland, expires at the end of September.
