Belgian Prime Minister offers condolences to victims of attacks in Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Charles Michel presented his condolences to relatives of the victims who perished in six simultaneous explosions in Sri Lanka. “When terror tries to divide us, we can only stay united,” he wrote on Twitter.

“We are side by side with Sri Lanka after the horrific attacks that hit the country on Easter Day. We mourn the loss of so many victims and extend our condolences to the families and friends of the victims. When terror tries to divide us, we can only stay united,” wrote the Prime Minister.

Earlier in the morning, Foreign Affairs and Defense Minister Didier Reynders strongly condemned these attacks. He indicated that foreign affairs contacted the Belgians present on the island, whether for tourist or professional reasons, to ensure that they are safe.

“Foreign Affairs is also in contact with the local authorities to obtain information on foreign victims and wounded,” said the vice-premier.
