The festival offers about twenty short performances (ranging in length from 5 to 25 minutes) covering all disciplines. XS is presented by around a hundred artists who come together at the Théâtre National each evening to perform in all areas of the theatre. From the basement to the attic, in front of 500 people in the Grand Salle, or for… an audience of 2 people in an office. XS mixes different art forms and disciplines to create a surprise-packed audience experience.
And new for this year: a series of short talks that are open to everyone.
Leading intellectuals, philosophers and scientists speak about the challenges of our time. These short talks (lasting 20 minutes) are open to anyone aged 12 and over! Our aim is to air major social issues as broadly as possible and to encourage debate around them, with young people and families in particular.
It also includes a huge open-air event in Brussel’s Place de la Bourse, where we put on 3 free shows.
A EUROPEAN COOPERATION PROJECT IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE AVIGNON FESTIVAL, TRAF Ó (BUDAPEST) AND SHORT THEATER (ROME).

XS invites you to discover short performances from all horizons. XS is also a unique opportunity to discover the dynamism of the Belgian stage. Theatre, dance, circus and puppets cross paths in a creative profusion open to everyone.
