The Swiss writer François Debluë is a poet, novelist, prose writer, and historian. During our meeting on the 3rd of June, 2019, Jean Jauniaux will be asking him about the points of contact and commonality between French, Swiss, and Belgian literature, as well as the literary renaissance of the Swiss branch of the publishing house “L’âge d’homme”, after the death of its founder Vladimir Dimitrijevic.
Finally, they will discuss the contemporary relevance of the author himself, whose last publication was the novel La seconde mort de Lazaro (“The Second Death of Lazarus”). While with Zola, Borges, Bataille, Giono, or Malraux, Lazarus is frequently a symbol or metaphor for something else, Mr Debluë, on the other hand, ventures deep into the life of the historical Lazarus: How did he survive? What tormented him, and what gave him joy? When and how did he really die?
For offering us a welcome tonic to dogma and cliché, Mr Debluë‘s entire oeuvre has been awarded the Schiller Prize and the Édouard Rod Prize.
The discussion will be followed by a glass of wine and a book signing.
