Antwerp Airport partly evacuated after bomb threat
Part of the Antwerp Airport was evacuated this afternoon after a baggage scanner had emitted an alert for possible explosives. A man who was about to take a flight to Nador in Morocco was arrested for interrogation.
According to the Belgian television VRT, an explosive-sniffing dog sent several times an alarm when the hand baggage of the man was examined. The man was arrested.
The building where the baggage hall is located has been evacuated, but the airport may still benefit from the business terminal to allow arriving or departing flights. The flights are currently also continuing normally.
Also, some of the surrounding streets have been temporarily evacuated. Airline TUI Fly operates weekly flights to Nador.
