Belgian TV show ‘Hoe zal ik het zeggen?’ wins Emmy Award

The program from the Flemish commercial broadcaster VTM has won an international Emmy award in the category ‘non-scripted entertainment’.

It is already the 3rd Emmy for Tim Van Aelst. With his production company Shelter, he already won the prestigious television award for the programmes ‘Benidorm bastards’ in 2011 and ‘Wat als?’ in 2014. In 2017, the VRT programme ‘Sorry voor alles’ also walked away with an Emmy award. All of these successes underline the quality of Belgian television productions.

‘Did you get the message?’ (‘Hoe zal ik het zeggen?’) beat ‘MasterChef Australia’, ‘Top Chef Mexico’ and ‘The Mask Singer’ from Thailand. In the programme, presenter Jens Dendoncker gets messages across to unsuspecting people in an original way. The format has currently been sold to 8 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. VTM has already started broadcasting the 2nd season.

‘Did you get the message?’ had already won a GOLD Award at the WorldMediaFestival in Hamburg in the category ‘Entertainment: Comedy’ and was voted ‘best new comedy format’ at the international TV fair MipTV in Cannes.
