Demonstrations in Brussels to demand concrete actions to address climate change

This Saturday 6th October, from 12:00 to 14:00 demonstrations will be held in front of the European Parliament in Brussels to demand Belgian and European leaders to have, “more ambition and courage in their climate policies,” indicated the CNCD 11.11.11 and the Climate Coalition.

This event is part of a series of actions organized under the banner of the Rise for Climate movement ahead of the 24th Conference of the Parties on Global Warming (COP24).

The citizen movement planned actions every first weekend of the month before a mass demonstration in Brussels on December 2, the day of the opening of the COP24 in Katowice, Poland.

World leaders will be gathering in Poland to approve the rules for implementing the Paris Agreement. Adopted in 2015, the agreement plans to keep the rise in temperatures below 2° C and continue efforts for the rise not to exceed 1.5° C.  It is expected that the rise in temperatures will reach 3.2° C by 2100. Therefore, the urgent need to do something about it.
