Happening now: Anti-fascist rally against Bolsonaro’s win at the Brazilian Embassy

The election of Bolsonaro, a right-wing president in Brazil, has sparked protests by Brazilian communities living abroad as well. A Facebook event hosted by Orville Zomrusi has asked people to express their concern today starting from 18:00 at the Brazilian Embassy in Brussels, 350 Avenue Louise.

The host stated “Bolsonaro represents all that is most repulsive in politics, with his racist, sexist, homophobic remarks. Now that he is in power, his nostalgia for the military dictatorship in Brazil between 1964 and 1985, and his intentions to reinstate torture, are of great concern to us about the fate of his political opponents, particularly to the left and to feminist activists, LGBTQI +, trade unionists, ecologists, anti-racists …”

The organizer added, “We want to express, with this rally in front of the Brazilian Embassy, ​​our full solidarity with the Brazilian comrades to inform them that they are not alone, and that we will continue to fight the fascism wherever it develops.”
