Metro lines 2 and 6 to face interruptions on Thursday and Friday
Brussels metro lines 2 and 6 will face interruptions on Thursday (Ascension Day) and Friday between Gare du Midi and Clemenceau stations, the Stib said on Tuesday. To mitigate the potential impact on commuters, some tram lines will be running more frequently and special buses will be made available.
The switch between the Gare du Midi and Clemenceau stations is worn out and needs to be replaced, requiring an interruption of traffic between these two stops, explains the Stib. On Thursday and Friday, the metros on line 2 will therefore only run between the Elisabeth and Porte de Hal stations. The metros on line 6 will similarly only be running between the stations Gare de l’Ouest and Roi Baudouin. However, Clemenceau and Delacroix stations will be served by special shuttle buses (M-buses) that will run between Porte de Hal and Beekkant.
Tram lines 51 and 82 will run on Thursday according to the Saturday timetable. On Friday, they will be running every 7-and-a-half minutes (instead of every 10 minutes) in off-peak hours, while tram 82 will be running every 6 minutes during the evening rush hour.
