Two new tram lines in Brussels

The Brussels government has decided on the opening of two new tram lines. These tram lines will connect Rogier to Belgica, and will extend to Neder-over-Heembeek.

The decision was made with the goal of improving the tram network in Brussels.

The first tram line will be 2.5 km long and will cross the Tour & Taxis site. The Regional Minister of Mobility, Pascal Smet stated that they want to solve the urban density issues in the area.

The second tram line aims to better connect Neder-over-Hembeek with the city center. The tram will be connected between the military hospital and the Van Praet bridge. Considering that several companies are present within this area, “these new tram lines will bring hundreds of workers every day and contribute to the economic development of this district of Brussels,” added the Brussels Employment Minister, Didier Gosuin.
