Yo Festival to take place in Brussels

How will Brussels sound like over the whole summer? The Belgian capital will actually be in the hip-hop mood!

Bozar will host an exhibition on hip-hop during the whole summer. If you fancy having an insight into that US-native form of art, this is your occasion!

Although you may have been familiar with the word or the art form for years and years, as it was “created” in the 1970s in New York City’s streets, you probably may not know so much about it.

It has become a worldwide movement connected to the street culture: it is not only about music and dance, but also about graffiti and mindset. With the passing of time, it has fascinated many young people, involving them in this new culture.

As hip-hop has also come to Brussels, MIXITY.brussels 2017 and Bozar, have decided to set up an exhibition, which takes place from the 28th of June to the 17th of September.

It will provide you with an overall view over the history of this movement, the main steps that made hip-hop a popular art, as well as you will have access to archives and devices related to this street culture.

Different stakeholders have been very interested in such an event and youth and local organisation have therefore been invited to take part to this hip-hop summer. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of the artists and attend workshops and performances; during these experiences, you may discover a connection between hip-hop and surprisingly unexpected fancy people, who are usually not linked to this very particular scene.

The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm (from 10.00 am to 9.00pm on Thursday). You also can book for groups and have special tickets for the weekend and the night sessions.
