1 year without roaming charges
This time last year roaming charges in the European Union were nulled. These new rules meant that when travelling from different EU countries, data services, voice calls and SMS became a roam like at home contract by default. Meaning you no longer had to pay extra charges for mobile services when travelling in another country and your contract at home would work the same abroad i.e unlimited data, calls, etc.
This allowed users to use their at home contract for a maximum of four months in other EU countries before having to either switch contracts or have charges apply.
This anniversary comes amid negotiations between the EU parliament and Council pushing for and securing a price cap on international calls within the bloc — of no more than 19 cents per minute, and texts capped at a maximum of 6 cents each.
