Extraordinary EU Heads of State meeting on Sunday 25th: here are the security and traffic measures
On Sunday 25 November 2018, an extraordinary meeting of EU Heads of State and Government will be held in Brussels in the European Council buildings on Rue de la Loi. The security forces will install a security perimeter in the neighborhood. Only authorized persons can enter it.
Security perimeter limits
A security perimeter will be put in place on November 25, 2018 . The Schuman district will be closed to traffic:
- Schuman roundabout
- rue Froissart, between rue Belliard and the Schuman roundabout
- rue de la Loi between the Schuman roundabout and the Residence Palace
- Just Lipse Street
Important notes:
- Deliveries will not be possible
- Garbage bags, bicycles and terraces can not be put on sidewalks in the security perimeter
Who can access the security perimeter?
With a vehicle:
- official delegations accredited by the Council and / or the police
- emergency and police services
- residents duly accredited by the police (access only via Avenue d’Auderghem )
Walking:
- residents registered in the area with their identity card
- Employees and tradesmen carrying their identity card and a pass (application to be submitted via the employer)
- any person with a pass and his identity card
Where to get a “pass” or a certificate?
Applications must be submitted via the form available on the site
This form is sent electronically to the police who process the request. Passes are available from November 20, 2018 at:

Local circulation
Some streets will be put into local circulation:
- Archimedes Street between Stévin Street and Schuman Roundabout
- avenue de Cortenberg, between rue Stévin and the Schuman roundabout
- rue de la Loi, between the Avenue de la Joyeuse Entrance and the Schuman roundabout
- Avenue d’Auderghem, between rue Belliard and the Schuman roundabout
- Breydel Street
Public transport
Bus lines STIB and From Lijn that usually pass through the perimeter, will be deflected.
Parking prohibited:
- in the security perimeter
- in the streets with local traffic
- Chaussée d’Etterbeek, between Belliard Street and Van Maerlant Street
- Van Maerlant Street
- rue Belliard, between the chaussée d’Etterbeek and avenue d’Auderghem
