The purpose of the blockage is to prevent employees from entering the building so that the bank no longer invests in fossil fuels. According to both groups, those responsible for social inequality and climate change are the same, multinational corporations and the financial sector that are destroying the planet and exploiting workers in order to maximize their profits.

The two groups also denounce the planned layoffs of 2,200 people by BNP while the bank records a profit that exceeded 1.8 billion in 2018.
