Are you looking for a last-minute plan for this weekend? Are you a huge fan of Harry Potter? That sounds great! Stop looking for something, Brussels Express highly recommends you to rush to Mechelen all the weekend long. 20 minutes away from Brussels, you indeed can attend the 5th European Quidditch Cup. Do not miss the event!

For those who haven’t heard about quidditch yet, quick reminder! Quidditch is a popular sport in the Harry Potter’s world. In the series, two teams of wizards fly on broomstick and need to score goals as well as one player is supposed to catch the Golden Snitch to finish the game. Some rules frame the game to make a bit more complex. The game has then become almost as popular as the series and lots of fan clubs are around the World.

In the muggle quidditch, the players of course do not fly but still use a broomstick. And the rules are quite different, so that the muggles easily can play. And quidditch has then turned into a popular sport, played by many adepts. This is why a European Cup has been organised for the first time in 2012 and was held in Lesparre-Médoc.
29 teams are qualified to win the EuroCup this year. The Paris Titans won the cup both in 2015 and in 2016, and is therefore one of the favourite teams.

After two days of quidditch, the final game will take place on Sunday at 6pm.
