Brussel’s Little Italy: Part III – Pizza in the EU Bubble, at Ego

Ego is an Italian restaurant that I wouldn’t have discovered without my dear former colleague Kasia. They’re as fast as Speedy Gonzalez, so a Pizza during lunch time sounded just about right.

The restaurant is located right in the European Bubble, not far from Schuman. You’ll probably not just bump into it, because it doesn’t look very special from outside. You’re entering through a normal looking door and then open another door to your right. You’ll step into a light room and if you turn left and just go straight ahead you’ll see a light room with windows all around. Don’t forget to look left while heading straight ahead, there you’ll spot the stone oven that does all the magic. The interior is not my favourite, as they mixed a bit of everything concerning decoration and furniture – some more modern, some very simple. But if you don’t mind that it’s a great place to enjoy a proper and delicious Pizza. I haven’t tried any of their other dishes, but I must say their pasta and risotto looked very tempting, too.

We shared two different Pizzas. One Diavola, with slices of spicy sausage, tomato sauce and Mozzarella and the other one with cooked ham, Rucola, Mozzarella and also tomato sauce. It really was a delicious Pizza, Neapolitan style: thick crust made from that gooey, delicious dough. In terms of dough I might slightly prefer the one from Ego over the one at Posto al Sole that I described in my post two weeks ago. Ingredient wise though, the toppings at Posto al Sole were more and nicer, at least the Mozzarella there was a dream!

As I haven’t been here for dinner I don’t know how the atmosphere is, but my first impression was that it’s more of a lunch place to enjoy some delicious Pizza as after and pre-work motivation!

Price: around 10-15€ for a Pizza
