Christmas tree set up at the Grand-Place

A Christmas tree was installed this morning at the Brussels Grand-Place. This year, the tree was donated by Wallonia. The fir-tree, which has a height of 22 meters, was selected in the forest of Osthertogenwald in Eupen.

Decoration and light show

On Sunday 19 November, the tree will be decorated with garlands totaling more than 1,300 meters in length. Starting on Friday 24 November, the tree will also play an active part of the sound and light show at the Grand-Place.

“Its illuminations will indeed be synchronised with those of the 1,600 LED strip lights, which are permanently positioned on the buildings at the Grand Place.” explained Karine Lalieux, Alderwoman for Tourism and Major Events for Brussels City Council.
