Maximilian Park has been evacuated prior to the Tour de France

The police from the Ixelles commune of the Brussels-Capital region have evacuated Maximilan Park prior to the Tour de France.

The cabinet of Philippe Close reported that approximately a hundred migrants were directed to the Samusocial center, which offers emergency assistance to homeless people.

Mehdi Kassou, the spokesman of the refugee support platform, stated that evacuations will continue ahead of the start of the Tour de France.

However, the mayors’ cabinet added that the action had already planned for weeks, in collaboration with the prevention service Bravvo. They stated: “We continue to seek a satisfactory balance for both migrants and residents of the park”.

No arrests took place during the evacuation process.
