Nearly 90 Belgian restaurants now offer free water to customers

Who has ever complained about not getting free water in a restaurant? The practice is common in France and the United Kingdom, but it is struggling to become the norm in Belgium.

Nevertheless, in recent weeks nearly 90 establishments have decided to offer free water to their customers. The leading cause of this sudden change is the Facebook group ‘Free Tap Water in Belgian Restaurants’.

This initiative, however, is likely to receive stiff resistance from many other restaurateurs throughout the country.
