Rock Herk Festival: your unconventional choice for the weekend

Many of your friends are probably very excited about the Dour Festival, taking place from the 12th to the 16th of July. It is the biggest music and touristic event in the French-speaking part of Belgium and, in the last years, it has been the one of the uncontested best festivals of the country. Nonetheless, if you are looking for a festival over the weekend, but you do not aim to be in a ‘mainstream’ setting, you could have a look at Rock Herk. The 34th edition of the “oldest alternative music festival” (it was firstly held in 1983), will take place on the 14th and 15th of July in Herk-de-Stad, in the East of Belgium. Every year, about 15,000 people rush there to enjoy cutting edge rock, punk and dance music.

This year, Black Box Revelation, Étienne de Crécy and Dinosaur Jr will be on stage to make you dance until the end of the night. There are two stages, and a campsite is at your disposal if you do not know where to stay.

Getting there is not a big deal: you can find all the information on the Herk website to reach the venue by car, bus or train. If the weather is nice enough, you may even reach it by bike, thanks to the itinerary available on fietsnet.

Don’t wait too much to buy the tickets, they may be sold out by the end of the week! Keep an eye on the official Facebook page: some people may still sell theirs at the last moment!
