Siberian cold: freezing temperatures
The Royal Institute of Meteorology (IRM) has issued an orange alert to the cold snap on the provinces of Liège, Namur and Luxembourg. As of next Wednesday, the alert will affect the whole of Belgium.
A cold wave is usually defined as a long period of several days or more during which night and daytime temperatures are low. Such periods are frequently associated in Belgium with an invasion of polar air from the north-east.
In Brussels
Brussels is not an exception. Today the temperature will be between -7° and 0°. Tomorrow -8° and 1° and on Wednesday between -6° and -1°. On Thursday and Friday, the extreme cold will continue with -3° to 3° and on Friday the situation will improve with 1° to 4°.
