Strikes to go ahead after failed talks

The meeting organized between SNCB, HR-Rail and the union failed to reach an agreement.

The Independent Railway Workers’ Union confirmed on Wednesday the strike actions of the train management sector will go ahead on 10 July from 3am to 12 July at 3am. The information was also confirmed by HR-Rail,who accepted the strike notice filed on June 27th.

The CIS has requested the postponement of the ‘staffing upgrades’ package on the agenda of the National Joint Commission on July 11th. (…) The representatives of the Belgian Railways refused to give a positive answer to our request to postpone the file. The Independent Union for Cheminots regrets this decision. ”

The strikes are in opposition to a ‘staffing changes’ and the Belgian Railways inertia to postpone the move. Disturbances are to be expected and a minimum service to run.
