Victory for residents: bunker under Place Jeu de Balle designated landmark

The bunker located under the Place Jeu de Balle has just been granted the designation of historic landmark. A victory for the Marolles Platform, an organization who was at the source of the request for its designation two years ago, back when the City of Brussels was planning to build a car park under the area where the beloved flea market takes place every week. The Platform regrets, however, that its request to have the square and part of the houses nearby receive the designation has not succeeded.

Other underground anti-aircraft shelters still remain in other parts of Brussels, namely under the Vaux-Hall and under the fountain near the KVS.
