It will be a special route this year, as it will echo the Grand Depart 2019 of the Tour de France, which will take place in Brussels from July 4 to 7. The Tour’s famous “red car” will be present, and cycling legend Eddy Merckx will be the guest of honour at this event.

The race will begin at the Place des Palais and end at the Atomium, passing through multiple Brussels neighbourhoods. As racers cross the finish line, they are welcomed by an extraordinary view of the Atomium, as well as by visitors and residents who have gathered at the BIKECITY village to share in this exciting moment.

BIKECITY offers a variety of exciting events, including guided tours, workshops, and sustainable transportation activities. Visitors can also sling some suds after their accomplishments, choose from delicious dining, watch performances, listen to music, marching bands and rides. Various festive activities will take place with some featuring acrobatic carnival shows to celebrate the year of Circus, and a redesign session where a bicycle gets a collaborative makeover to rediscover the many different possibilities it offers will also be present.

There are two categories of races that will be on:

The “MASTER” category. Reserved for 200 experienced racers (minimum 18 years old) who hold an official license from a cycling, duathlon or triathlon federation.

The “CYCLO” category. Open to 4800 cyclists (age 12 and up). Faster cyclists will be in an earlier start wave than slower cyclists. Parental authorization is required for minors.

Meeting point: Place des Palais at 10:00 am on Sunday, June 17.
