Car-sharing is not going away

About 50,000 Belgians made use of Drivy last year.

Have you heard about Drivy? If you have been observing the traffic in Brussels’ streets, you surely have noticed this name.

Drivy, a company which is active in 6 European countries, offers you the possibility to use more than 350 cars in Brussels whenever you want. Around the main Belgian urban areas, 1,400 cars can be used. While you can use a car when you like, Drivy also makes possible to rent out your car for a very limited time. The system is very easy, as both the users and the owners sign a contract via their smartphone.

I love a good road trip. And I have been known to sing cheesy 90’s songs at the top of my lungs on a windy road when no one can hear… 🇬🇧 Throwback to my road trip to Gent with @drivy_be, a car-sharing platform allowing anyone to rent a car or rent his/her car 🚘 Some have the Drivy Open technology, meaning you open the car with your smartphone. Pretty cool experience and it was so exciting to visit Gent again! Check my highlights for all details. Where would you go on a road trip? And more than 60 vehicles are equipped with a Drivy Open system, which makes it possible to unlock the car without any key.

“Carsharing meets a need of the cities which are clogged because of traffic jam on the roads. We believe a shared car can liberate the city from 10 to 15 private cars,” Quentin Lestavel, Drivy director for France and Belgium, told Belga. He also points out the fact that Drivy offers solutions for both companies and individual users. We think that our model, private and professional cars, allows a balance and a more flexible development than the companies which work only with dedicated fleet,” he added.

Drivy is however not the only company active in this sort of business. Since there’s a need, several stakeholders have entered the business over the past few years.
