David Sassoli elected President of the European Parliament
The Italian socialist, David Sassoli got elected President of the European Parliament.
He has been sitting in the European Parliament since 2009.
None of the candidates managed to win absolute majority in the first round.
David Sassoli got elected with an absolute majority in the second round. The threshold was 332 votes, while he got 345 votes.
He will be holding this position for two and a half years.
