New app offers restaurant leftovers up to 50% off

Brussels’ foodie scene welcomes its newest addition, and it’s sure to please. Too Good to Go is an app that offers customers leftovers from restaurants at major discounts. All food offered is guaranteed edible but sold due to a variety of reasons: cannot be used the next day due to change of menu or because the restaurant isn’t open the following day. The amount of the discount varies between retailers, but it is often 50% or more.

The app is already available in seven other countries – including the UK and Germany – but just broke into Belgium a few months ago and only recently arriving in Brussels.

To good to go

Fifty restaurants have signed up for the app so far and offer food to-go. Some participating restaurants like Exki and Foodmaker have pre-packaged food that must be sold by the expiration date; whereas others like l’Atelier in the Schuman area or Boco on Avenue Louise are trying to reduce their wastage.

Customers log in to check what’s on offer and for how much and then arrange to pick up the meal from the restaurant. Users must bring their own packaging – to keep in line with the spirit of the app in reducing waste
